The Fountain Creek Watershed District is celebrating Creek Week's 10th year in 2023!
History of Creek Week:
Creek Week started in 2014, when community members realized there was a major need for community cleanup program. Allison Schuch, Executive Director decided to take action, and do something about the unsightly trash and debris that was negatively effecting our natural ecosystem and the species that live in it. And so, Creek Week was born. It started as a small community effort and has continued to grow. The 9-day community improvement program is now the largest in the state, reaching thousands of volunteers who help to beautify and protect our home watershed.
Creek Week's impact:
Over the last 9 years, 19,900 Watershed Warriors have removed 138+ total tons of trash and debris from the Fountain Creek Watershed. That is 308,647 pounds of trash!!!!
